Life at Duns

Accountants contemplating a career move will appreciate our supportive culture and variety of work we do. We encourage our clients to think outside the square, and you will too!

“What is very appealing is the great training and support you receive at Duns while pursuing your accounting career. This, combined with hugely diverse client base, a wide variety of work, and an open culture where partners are accessible to staff, makes this a truly great working enviroment.”

Our client base is a microcosm of the diversity that is Christchurch – from franchises to hospitality, property development to manufacturing and retail.

We utilise the latest technology, employing a fully hosted IT platform allowing us to access to our system from anywhere in the World. We use CCH iFirm software for Practice Management, Tax, General Ledger, Intranet and our Document Filing.

“I came to work at Duns in October 2013. After a small CA firm I decided it was to move a bigger firm to further my career. Right from the start Duns have been supportive of my personal career goals and are very encouraging in helping to make those goals a reality.

I am currently undertaking the NZICA New Chartered Accountants Program in order to gain my CA qualification, Duns has been extremely supportive while I study towards that qualification. I have been made to feel a part of the Duns team since my very first day. Everyone from junior staff to Directors are willing to offer advice and answer even the simplest of question without hesitation. I have been encourages to think about areas of expertise that I would like to focus on, and Duns have worked with me to develop those areas.

Since I have been at Duns I have grown as an accountant and a person and hope to continue to grow in both areas.” Sonia Brown

“I became part of the Duns team in September 2016, while still juggling my final semester at the University of Canterbury.  Duns have continued to support me in my career as I have embarked on my CAANZ Chartered Accounting modules.  Duns philosophy on development has me constantly challenging myself to become a better accountant, while the wide range of clients keeps the work refreshing and interesting.

The work environment is second to none, as everyone in the office is willing to help and offer advice.  Answers are explained rather than stated which allows us to be constantly improving to achieve a higher standard of work.  To me, the most impressive feature of Duns is how they encourage the team through the use of ‘business solutions’.  These inspire us to be constantly thinking how we can make our client’s life better.

The Social Club at Duns organise a variety of events throughout the year and weekly Friday evening drinks always get a good turnout.  Making Duns a thoroughly enjoyable firm, of which I am delighted to be part of.” Daniel Linden
